A Christmas Message To Business from the D2N2 LEP

Peter Richardson, Chairman of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “I look back on 2012 as a year of solid achievement for the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

“Since I became Chair of D2N2 in November 2012, it has agreed a multi-million pound funding deal to unlock investment in the Alliance Boots Campus of the Nottingham Enterprise Zone; received a conditional offer of £5m from the Government’s regional growth fund to invest in local firms; finalised loans to local businesses from its Growing Places Fund; and put in place exciting plans for the future.

“We can look back on getting the green light from Government for a number of our transport priorities including the dualling of the A453, improvements to junctions on the A38 in Derby and the upgrade of the Midland Main Line.

“D2N2 is working with others to help develop the visitor economy. On behalf of the LEP, the Duke of Devonshire has collaborated with the Arts Council to launch the ‘Elemental Force’ cultural tourism programme across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

“I know economic challenges remain but I look forward to better economic news in 2013 and to reporting on more successes for D2N2, more investment in and by businesses, more jobs and new plans putting business in the lead on key economic issues like skills and training.

“The Heseltine Review and the Government’s Autumn Statement promise more powers and influence for LEPs and we are increasing our capacity to deliver.

“However we will keep our focus on being a lean, business-led partnership with a relentless focus on boosting local growth.”
