“It also reflects the strength and calibre of the leadership we have on the D2N2 board. I’m honoured to be asked to take on this interim role until Elizabeth returns.”

“Our region, along with the wider UK, is facing an unprecedented task in rebuilding our post-pandemic economy a well as preparing for a new trading relationship after we leave the European Single Market.”

“Working with my excellent fellow board members, we will continue to work tirelessly to create the initiatives and partnerships required to ensure the East Midlands remains the economic powerhouse it has always been.”

The change in role follows the appointment of current Chair Elizabeth Fagan as the interim Marketing Strategy Director for the newly formed NHS Track and Trace as its first Marketing Strategy Director in an interim capacity.

The appointment starts with immediate effect.

Elizabeth will play a key role in setting the overall marketing strategy for NHS Test and Trace.

Elizabeth was formerly Non-Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Boots UK and has been Chair of the Board of D2N2 since 2018.

On her appointment, Elizabeth Fagan CBE said: “My decision to be part of this national initiative is to help the nation in its response to the pandemic. I will continue to remain in touch and remain fully behind our collective ambitions for the region’s economy, especially as we move towards planning for recovery."

"David has my full support, and I wish him and team the very best until I return.”
