D2N2 to run ERDF Workshops to help businesses bid for funding:

The latest round of workshops to support the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) open calls have been announced.

With £6.2 million still to be awarded, D2N2 will be running workshops to support applicants interested in applying to the latest ERDF open calls in Chesterfield, Nottingham, and Derby in August.

ERDF is focused on reducing economic disparities within and between EU member states by supporting economic growth and regeneration and safeguarding jobs.

ERDF can, therefore, support a range of activities designed to make small to medium-sized employers (SMEs) more competitive, develop ICT infrastructure, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support companies to develop and strengthen research and innovation programmes.

The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership is the private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, and community and voluntary services which promote economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Its work is partly funded by a European Union allocation of around € 250million in European Structural and Investment Funds (or ESIF). This is made up of the European Social Fund (ESF), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) funding streams.

The 4 ERDF open calls are:

  • PA1 - Promoting research and innovation (3.3mil)
  • PA2 – ICT (£237,000)
  • PA3 – SME support (£1.8mil)
  • PA4 – Low Carbon (£865,000)

The deadline for the latest round of open calls is September 30 2019.

ERDF Workshops:

Nottingham: August 1

Chesterfield: August 8

Derby: August 8

ERDF Call and Application Process

To access ERDF funding, projects are selected through calls.

A call is an open invitation for applicants to submit outline applications against a published specification.

This sets out the value of funding available, the outputs and type of activity sought, and the timetable and process by which projects will come forward and be assessed and selected.

Calls will be published at regular intervals through the lifetime of the programmes with the timing of calls and their scope discussed between DCLG and the D2N2 ESIF sub-committee.

There are currently 4 ERDF open calls.
