Chair of D2N2 and Tramlink Nottingham awarded OBE

Peter Richardson, Chair of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, it was announced today (June 17).

He has received the OBE (Order of the British Empire) honour “for services to enterprise and growth in Nottingham”.

Peter was appointed Chair of D2N2 in November 2012. D2N2 is the private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, and community and voluntary services providers which promotes economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Since January 2016, Peter has also been Chairman of Tramlink Nottingham; the consortium behind Nottingham’s tram network.

Responding to today’s announcement, Peter said: “I am grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my career and this recognition is as much for them as it is for me.

"I love Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and it's been an honour and a privilege to work with so many wonderful people in all sectors and communities.”

A prominent business figure in the East Midlands, Peter has worked in the financial services sector for most of his career, and was Chief Executive Officer of Derbyshire Building Society until 2008.

He is a past Chair of Derbyshire Business Link and Derby Cityscape URC, and also of the Derby Renaissance Board on which he still sits; and is a former member of the Governing Council of the University of Derby.

Peter also chaired the Championing Derbyshire Olympic Legacy 2012 Committee.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Nottingham University Business School.

Peter currently also runs a business consultancy.
