In December 2018, Government invited D2N2 LEP to join ‘wave 3’ of LEPs in preparing a Local Industrial Strategy. It will build on the recently published Vision 2030 Strategic Economic Plan for D2N2

The D2N2 Local Industrial Strategy will be a shorter document, covering the same time period as the Vision 2030, containing a limited number of focused, evidence backed priorities that drive us towards the vision and targets in the SEP. It will be developed in close consultation with and jointly published by HM Government and will contribute towards achieving the aim of the UK’s Industrial Strategy to;

“...boost productivity by backing businesses to create good jobs and increase the earning power of people throughout the UK with investment in skills, industries and infrastructure”

D2N2 Board Member Paul Harris will lead development of the D2N2 Local Industrial Strategy on behalf of the Board.

We are currently gathering evidence to inform strategy development. The updated evidence base and Local Industrial Strategy will be structured around the five ‘foundations of productivity’ and four ‘Grand Challenges’ in the UK’s Industrial Strategy.

‘Foundations of Productivity’

Grand Challenges

  • Ideas
  • People
  • Clean Growth
  • Infrastructure
  • Business environment
  • The Future of Mobility
  • Places

  • Artificial Intelligence and the Data Economy
  • Clean Growth
  • Ageing Society
  • The Future of Mobility

We are planning to publish a full evidence base and consultation document in the Summer. In the meantime, if you have evidence or perspectives, particularly around the five ‘Foundations’ and four ‘Grand Challenges’ that you would like to feed in to the initial work, please email matthew.wheatley@d2n2lep.org.
