Local Growth Fund

D2N2 was successful in securing more than £190m in Local Growth Fund grants to support a large number of schemes throughout the region. These projects are now progressing and delivering much needed infrastructure, to support developments. Below, are examples of projects directed towards improving:

Transport

More than £10million from the D2N2 LEP for pedestrianisation and related streetworks in connection with the £150m transformation of the Nottingham Intu Broadmarsh area, for the ‘southern gateway’ to the city.

Key business sectors

£6.5million from D2N2 towards the £30m BioCity Nottingham site, currently under construction. It will provide extra space for the growing life sciences sector in the city. The new building is expected to open in spring 2017 and to create 700 jobs over a 30 year span.

Skills provision

£3.4m has been given by D2N2 towards the Chesterfield Centre for Higher Level Skills. The University of Derby and Chesterfield College-backed scheme will see a college teaching higher vocational skills to mainly adult learners, from the premises of the former St Helena’s Grammar School in Chesterfield.
