The European Social Fund Fund is one of the five European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF)

The ESF invests in people, with a focus on improving employment and education opportunities across the European Union. It also aims to improve the situation of the most vulnerable people at risk of poverty.

The ESF in England contributes to local growth by increasing labour market participation, promoting social inclusion, and developing the skills of the potential and existing workforce. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the Managing Authority for the ESF.

D2N2 recommends projects for ESF funding that seek to address these goals.

Recommendations for funding decisions on projects in the D2N2 region are made by the ESIF Committee

For more information on the ESF fund, go to the D2N2 Technical Assistance website.
