This call is looking to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and specifically:

  • supporting the creation and the extension of advanced capacities for products, services and development
  • supporting the capacity of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises to grow in regional, national and international markets and to engage in innovation processes

Projects put forward under this call must cover the Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership area.


Up to £700,000 of funding is available through this call. A minimum value of £500,000 of funding can be applied for.


Outline application deadline: 13 May 2017

Completion date

It is anticipated that funding from this call will be awarded for up to 3 years.

ERDF Priority Axis 4 - supporting the shift to a low-carbon economy


A total of £8,5000,000 is available to organisations wishing to deliver projects that support the shift towards a low carbon economy in D2N2 specifically:

  • promoting the production and distribution of energy derived from renewable resources.
  • promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy use in enterprises
  • supporting energy efficiency, smart energy management and renewable energy use in public infrastructure, including in public buildings, and in the housing sector
  • promoting low-carbon strategies for all types of territories, in particular for urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and mitigation-relevant adaptation measures
  • promoting research and innovation in, and adoption of, low-carbon technologies

A minimum value of £500,000 of ERDF can be applied for under this call.

This will be a ‘rolling call’ with application review points as outlined below:

  • First review point: 17 February 2017
  • Second review point: 30 April 2017
  • Third review point: 30 July 2017
  • Fourth review point and closing date: 31 October 2017

However, organisations are advised to make timely applications as the D2N2 ESIF subcommittee will be making strategic assessment decisions from the first review point.

Completion dates

It is anticipated that funding for this call will be awarded for up to 3 years

Match Funding

Applicants must identify that they can provide eligible match funding at 50% of total project costs
