Better Business Regulation

In line with the Government's drive to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses, D2N2 set-up the Better Business Regulation (BBR) service.

Businesses tell us that the time, cost, volume, and complexity of regulation is time not spent on recruiting, expanding, and investing. This is at a time when businesses are also being asked to drive forward UK economic growth.

BBR helps businesses better understand regulations, and works with official bodies to simplify regulations and make information about them easier to access. Meeting regulations is not as difficult as often thought. Regulators in the D2N2 area of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are committed to supporting businesses, by providing advice and guidance which helps them understand and meet their responsibilities.

Regulatory services are public sector organisations which carry out inspections, visits, and investigations to check businesses are compliant with the law. They also provide advice and guidance to businesses on how to achieve compliance.

These regulations include food safety, health and safety, environmental protection, waste, licensing, fire safety, trading standards, taxation, employment law, business continuity, planning, environmental health and trading standards.

The D2N2 LEP's BBR service has held a number of events for businesses, to promote how it can help them, including in 2015 and 2016.
